From time to time we conduct omnibus surveys to gather people’s thoughts about topical issues and the result is aggregated to give insight.

WHICH POLITICAL PARTY COMES TO MIND FIRST?

It is election season in Nigeria. Alliances are being formed and stakeholders are positioning themselves strategically. Market Trends international did a dipstick using mobile surveys to feel the pulse of the Nigerian populace using a national representative sample across all regions in federation. This is a snippet of our findings.

It is a battle of wills amongst the political parties especially with the emergence of a third force. We checked the top of mind parties and foremost is the opposition party, PDP (36%). This is however driven by the northern regions in Nigeria. The ruling party comes 2nd at 27% while the third force (Labour party) is 26%

78% of those we surveyed have already gotten their PVCs and indicate interest in the electoral process as well as voting. However, there are a few stragglers out of which 16% have indicated willingness in going to get their voters card and less than 6% have challenges beyond their control preventing them from getting same.

What then do the people want from the incoming leader?

The top three items that the voters want the incoming government to tackle first is terrorism (45%), economy (21%) and unemployment (17%)
